Welcome to Serenity House of Libertyville, the trusted non-profit organization providing meeting space for Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon meetings in Libertyville, IL. We offer a supportive environment for individuals on their path to recovery from addiction. Our welcoming spaces provide a place for people to find hope and healing, in a judgement-free setting. We are dedicated to helping each person find the right path to recovery and rebuilding their lives. Join us for a meeting today and let us help you find your way forward.
From our Articles of Incorporation:
The purpose of the corporation is to maintain and operate a club house to be used exclusively as a headquarters, meeting place and social rooms for such members of Alcoholics Anonymous and allied activities as may wish to avail themselves of its facilities and accommodations for the purpose of conveying the message of the Alcoholics Society to those suffering from the disease of alcoholism. Dated Feb 15, 1968. We have a board of directors that manage the House, comprised of four officers and four directors. Board terms are two years.
Not only do we support AA and Al-Anon meetings, we also have a social component that hosts one summer BBQ at the house, one picnic in a forest preserve, holiday party for December, and other sober social events like Trivia nights, game nights, dances, and hosting district AA events.
Serenity House of Libertyville
Membership
You do not have to be a member of Serenity House to attend meetings at Serenity House. The only requirement to attend closed meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous is a desire to stop drinking. Anyone may attend an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous and Serenity House hosts an open meeting every Sunday morning at 11am. Each meeting at Serenity House is self supporting in accordance with our AA Traditions.
SERENITY HOUSE LIBRARY:
The house does have a library where attendees may purchase the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, and other related recovery material. The library also has a supply of anniversary coins that can be purchased for $2 when a member announces an anniversary. Each individual meeting is responsible for paying for any coins they distribute.
SERENITY HOUSE MEMBERSHIP:
Privileges: A key card to access the building outside of scheduled meeting times, an anniversary coin, and free entrance to any Serenity House sponsored social events. An intangible benefit is being part of the organization that has helped us get sober and continues to help those still suffering from the disease an opportunity to get sober.
